Company History

At its founding in 2004, the year it obtained its first hedge fund administration client, SEI AFO was known as the Finance and Operations division of Archway Technology Partners; its name was later shortened to AFO. For the past decade, AFO has combined the sophisticated technology of ATWeb, SEI Archway's flagship platform, with its industry knowledge and accounting expertise to seamlessly help firms execute their back-office processes.

AFO was acquired in July 2017 by SEI, a leading global provider of asset management, investment processing and investment operations solutions for institutional and personal wealth management, forming what is now known as SEI AFO. Team

Our Leadership

Paul Freeland co-founded SEI AFO, formerly Archway Finance and Operations (AFO), in 2004 and currently serves as the firm’s President. In addition to developing new client relationships, Paul provides oversight for the firm's administration and accounting services. He is active in the firm's marketing efforts and speaks regularly at industry conferences. Prior to founding SEI AFO, Paul served in the Business Development division at Archway Technology Partners and worked in Internal Audit and the Financial and Operations practices at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young.

Mike provides oversight for the firm's administration practice, which includes clients across a broad spectrum of the investment industry. Prior to joining SEI AFO, Mike spent more than 12 years working in the mutual fund administration industry, most recently as CFO and Treasurer for two mutual fund trusts comprised of over 40 mutual funds.

Scott leads SEI AFO's business development efforts with a primary focus on new client acquisition. Prior to joining SEI AFO, he was a senior member of the Sales division at one of the world's largest fund administration services companies, MUFG Investor Services. Among his other career highlights, Scott also worked at Apex Fund Services and Koger Inc., where he began in partnership accounting software sales and was later promoted to Global Head of Sales and Marketing.

Natalie leads the Investor Relations division within SEI AFO and is responsible monitoring, designing and improving systems and investor engagement strategies. In addition to her role within Investor Relations, she also assists with business development efforts for the firm. Prior to joining SEI AFO, Natalie spent more than 18 years working in the alternative investment space in compliance, investor relations and marketing. Most recently she was the Director of Investor Relations at a Chicago-based hedge fund where she spent 10 years building and maintaining investor relationships worldwide.

Laura manages SEI AFO's Investment Operations division with a primary focus on fund administration, software support and reporting services for RIAs, private banks and multi-family offices. Prior to her role at SEI AFO, Laura worked for Archway Technology Partners as an implementation consultant for family offices and ultimately as a member of the Client Relations division where she focused on providing support to and maintaining relationships with Archway's client base. Earlier in her career, Laura spent time in commercial banking at Wells Fargo as well as corporate accounting at Genesco and Republic Airways.

Cori manages the Investment Operations division at SEI AFO with a primary focus on outsourced family office accounting and private equity fund administration. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Cori is Six Sigma certified and provides oversight for SEI AFO's internal process improvement. Prior to joining SEI AFO, Cori worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Financial Services Assurance division where she led a team of auditors specializing in new acquisitions with a focus on investments. Preceding her years in public accounting, Cori spent 10 years working in the insurance industry.

Aaron manages the Investment Operations division within SEI AFO with a primary focus on fund administration and outsourced accounting services for hedge funds, RIAs and family offices. Prior to joining SEI AFO, Aaron worked as a Fund Accounting Manager for Huntington Asset Services (formerly Unified Fund Services).

Tricia manages the Investment Operations division within SEI AFO with a primary focus on multi-family offices. Prior to her current role, Tricia worked as a senior analyst within AFO during which time she was responsible for building out processes to create efficiencies for multi-enterprise clients. Tricia also spent time in compliance at Roche Diagnostics.

Jeremy directs the Investment Accounting division at SEI AFO with a primary focus on complex partnership accounting administration and tax-related operations for family offices. Additionally, he provides oversight on process documentation and development with a focus on quality control. Prior to joining SEI AFO, Jeremy performed tax compliance for investment banks, hedge funds and private equity funds at Ernst & Young in their Financial Services Office (FSO). Earlier in his career, Jeremy was a Registered Representative (Series 7 & 66) for Charles Schwab, Genworth Financial and Ameriprise.

SEI AFO is seeking a Fund Accounting Supervisor to join our fund administration practice as a part of our Denver-based team. As a Fund Accounting Supervisor, the qualified candidate will provide fund administration services, accounting expertise and back-office processing for the accounting and investment operations of hedge funds, private equity funds, family offices and private banks. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate legal documents to determine appropriate setup and procedures
• Produce and communicate end-investor investment information
• Monitor and process bank/broker activity in a timely fashion
• Perform portfolio accounting for diverse asset classes
• Complete partnership accounting for a variety of legal structures
• Prepare financial statements with investment performance returns
• Participate in the preparation of audit and tax data requests
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve complex accounting issues
• Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with clients
• Assist with training of new hires within the organization
• Delegate tasks and give feedback to Investment Accounting Analysts

Position Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related field required
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Microsoft Office required
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer service required
• CPA/CAIA or working towards CPA/CAIA certification preferred
• Practical knowledge of GAAP and reporting standards
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Emphasis on organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Rigorous attention to detail
• Highly self-motivated
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
